Joe (H.L.) Lankey
Joe (H. L.) Lankey, 88 of Waseca, formerly of Le Center died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Waseca Medical Center.  

Visitation will be held at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca on Wednesday, July 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Funeral services will be held at the church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Le Center at a later date. Arrangements are with Le Center Funeral Home.  Military Honors will be provided by the Waseca Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.

 Joe was born in Raymond, MN on April 19, 1922 to Erwin and Ruth (Soderholm) Lankey.  He grew up in Raymond and graduated from Raymond High School.  He enlisted in the United States Navy on October 20, 1942 serving in WWII.  He was united in marriage to Beatrice M. Waldemar on March 7, 1943 in Reno Nevada.  After his discharge on October 4, 1945, they made their home in Belgrade, MN where Joe was a barber until 1970.  At that time they moved to Le Center where Joe continued to do barber work until 1972 when he began working for the Le Center Public Schools as a custodian.   

 Joe is a life member of the VFW and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Veteran’s Honor Guard, and for his church where he was a Lay Minister for many years.

 He is survived by his daughter, Genise Boettcher of Waterville; two sons, Gary Lankey of Chisago City and Guy Lankey of Grantsburg, WI; 7 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

 Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Bea and parents.
